Let’s get into it!
This week, we were invited to attend a community event at Big Idea Ventures (BIV) that showcased the companies in their accelerator creating plant-based food and alternatives. From a new seed-based milk to plant-based cheese that melts like mozzarella to a nondairy gelato, the new startups are working on perfecting texture and taste.
From what we know, this fund and accelerator is the only one of its kind in NYC and we’re excited to see the companies grow and succeed in the market.
If you know of anyone building a new protein startup, join their next cohort in 2020 by applying here.
Andrew Ive, Managing General Partner of Big Idea Ventures
Over the next 10 years, we’re going to see a whole bunch of new brands, new products, and technologies that just didn’t exist five years ago… It’s a big opportunity. And the great thing about it is that if we do our job right, and we deliver a lot of delicious foods that just happen to not have animal protein or animal byproducts in them, it has a really significant impact on climate.
Can the plant-based industry grow from $1billion to $20billion?
